Funds 30 research projects at 16 National Laboratories.
The Department of Energy distributed $21 million to 16 National Laboratories, allowing them to move forward with 30 projects exploring mass production issues facing clean energy technology.
Many clean energy items, such as solar panels and wind turbines, are already available for purchase in the marketplace but are still very expensive. These 30 projects will move forward the lengthy research required to find solutions to this issue, developing ways to cheaply create these technologies for mass use.
“As America transitions to a clean energy economy, it is vital that we reduce the time from when a clean energy technology is invented to when it’s available to consumers,” said Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm. “DOE’s National Laboratories are developing landmark clean energy technologies that will lower energy costs for Americans, strengthen our nation’s economic stability, and continue to advance President Biden’s decarbonization goals.”
